Last night Michele and I took the girls out to the Glen Friedman opening at Sixspace. This was the first time we’ve taken the girls to an art gallery instead of the museum.
We were concerned that the feel of the gallery would weird them out or that they would go wild knocking frames off the walls. But they behaved well and had a good time. Zoe said, “Let’s go to another gallery now!” as we left. Looks like Michele and I will need to scope out age appropriate shows going forward.
I snapped a phonecam pic of Sean at the gallery.
We got a chance to talk to a few nice people, but I was a bit nervous the whole time, trying to keep an eye on the girls. Hopefully next time I’ll be relaxed. So if you know of galleries with kid friendly xhows, please let me know.
It looks like you were at the show early, there is nobody in the background of the picture. I got there late, about 9:30. Too bad we missed one another. Maybe for SENT we can have an LA area #JoiIto outting or something. Too bad it sounds like SENT is a long ways off, maybe we should try doing something before then too.
Thanks for coming last night – it was nice to finally meet you. I think it’s great that your little ones want to check out more galleries. Not to promote my blog but art.blogging.la lists great galleries in Los Angeles, complete with links and previews, so you can see if it’s good for your girls. Culver City gallery cherrydelosreyes has a great painting show up right now that’s kid friendly!
It was nice to meet you at the gallery. You may want to check out the Brewery Artwalk April 17-18. A ton of resident artists open their studios to the public. It’s kid-friendly and there’s food and lots to look at. I live there, so I can point out some of the studios that have stuff kids would be interested in seeing, if you’d like.
