Sometimes

Sometimes it sucks not to have a Mac.
Apple’s new music service is out and only Mac people get to play.

  1. Sometimes it’s also good to NOT have a mac… I’ve already dropped way way too much money on music in the last twenty minutes of looking around the Apple Music Store, they make it way too freaking easy, a buck a song adds up REALLY quick.

  2. It is indeed easy to plunk down a bunch of bucks on downloads.
I figure it’s going to a good cause to show the recording industry that honest people do download music and pay for it if given a chance.
Now, it remains to see exactly how encumbered by DRM the files will be.

  3. From what I was told yesterday by Happy Mac Owners, the AAC files can be converted to MP3 or burned to CDs without DRM concerns.
I have yet to see it for myself.

  4. This is the first music download service I’ve actually been interested in – tried it last night. It is indeed too easy to buy music, one-click ordering at its finest. I did a whole album too and burned to CD, sounded great! I’m going to rip to MP3 tonight just to compare quality. So far, no DRM related hassles.

  5. Apple iTunes Music Store

Michael over at Cruft is disappointed about Apple’s new music download service. It doesn’t support PCs yet. Be patient… it…

  6. Yes I am a biased Mac user. But wow is it fast easy and scary to buy songs like this. In general testing, I found about half of the songs I was searching for, and bought 4. The library needs to grow, but the foundation is there.
