Purely hypothetical question here…
Imagine that your wife had an unnatural love of stapleguns and loved to use them to attach everything from christmas lights to party ribbons. Now imagine that she wanted to use the staplegun to attach a sheet over a window. That would mean stapling directly into plaster.
Is it so wrong to question the use of a staple gun inside a house on the walls?

A better question would be: “Why do you want to put a sheet over your window? What’s next, Aluminum foil?”
Either the sheet can be stapled directly into plaster, or your face can be stapled directly into plaster. If you’re man enough to question it, I’ll bring over some bactine.
Here’s the deal. She wanted to cover the inside of a sliding glass door so you couldn’t see in from the backyard. There was a large party of little girls in the backyard and we wanted to shield them from the horrific mess of our office. The sheet was to hang over the sliding glass door for 5-6 hours max.
The question isn’t so much is it worth stapling into the plaster, I think the real question is “Is questioning said decision worth getting the Look for the next four days?”
I think in most, if not all, cases, the answer is a resounding “NO”. 🙂
i think this relates a bit. today my wife said, “I was gonna thaw some chicken, but I didn’t know what to do with it.” I said, “ummm, cook it.” she didnt care for my answer. we had beef for dinner.
I haven’t done the sheet hanging thing since college, but thumb tacks seem to me to be a superior solution. 3-4 tiny holes and you’re done.
stapling into plaster? the problem with plaster as opposed to good ol’ drywall is not always the staple/nail going IN, but the crater created by the staple/nail coming OUT
two words: Duct Tape
