Helpful Bit of Advice

Last night, I flipped a cookie to the dog, Piper. Michele and Mira complained to me about this and then Mira handed me this note:

This morning the dog woke up, walked past me, and out to the back porch where she proceeded to throw up.
So you dog owners out there, take heed to the 7 year old’s advice.

  1. Glad to see you got the memo on that. At least the dog went outside. Good dog!
Also, don’t forget to put the new cover page on your TPS reports.

  2. Cookies are indeed bad for dogs. They are dangerous to leave around the house. If you truly love Piper, you will bring all cookies from home into work so she won’t be able to get to them.

  3. Yeah. Some years ago, we had invited some friends over for a dinner party. I spent several hours preparing a nice meal in advance but decided to keep dessert simple. Store bought gourmet Ice Cream and a variety of Cookies.
The table was set with all our best china and silver. I took out a lovely plate, and covered it with a paper doily, and carefully set out a pretty presentation of Pepperidge Farm Cookies and Girl Scout Thin Mints. Then, I took the cookie plate and set it aside on the counter next to the toaster.
Later, that evening, after we and our guests finished eating the meal, I cleared the plates and scooped the ice cream into bowls. As soon as I brought the bowls of ice cream to the table, I went back into the kitchen to get the plate of cookies, and discovered that the row of Thin Mints was missing.
I rearranged the remaining cookies and brought them into our guests. At that time, I assumed that at least one of you boys, if not both, were responsible for the theft. Later, let you know of my unhappiness regarding this behavior. Both Matt and you pleaded innocence.
I didn’t believe either of you until a couple of days later, when I came upon our dog, Bob, standing on his hind legs and eating some other food off of a plate sitting on the counter.
I felt awful about the false accusation, and apologized to you, but I don’t remember Bob getting sick. It wasn’t until later that I learned that chocolate is definitely not good for dogs.
    The moral is:
    Listen to your children! 🙂
