Quadruple

Tonight I finished the Tivo upgrade.

After spending two hours making sure I was going to enter the correct command, I expanded the Tivo and everything was good. As you can see, I have plenty of storage now.
The thing that freaked me out was that the original 30GB drive literally smoked today. I had it hooked up to the computer. When I powered up the computer with the old drive and the new drive, the old drive smoked. Literally. One of the surface mount chips glowed bright orange in a classic failure mode with smoke.
This made me nervous that I had done something wrong. I guess it was just the old drive commiting suicide when it learned the new drive was working.

  1. What was the command used to grow the partition? I’ve had difficulty figuring out how to do that part of the process.

  2. Something Similar:
I bought a new powerbook in April, and within three days the motherboard of my PC fried (though there was no dramatic smoke or anything.) I think that tech gets jealous when you replace it and martyrs itself to draw your attention back to it. After some lovin’ (and a new mobo and processor) the PC is running sweetly again.

  3. That’s 38 (almost 39) hours at best quality. If you check your machine, it’s probably 35 hours at basic quality or some such thing.
