Tie Tuesday

I read in today's LA Times about the backlash toward casual attire at the workplace.

When I started at work a little over ten years ago, ties were common and I wore one on mosy days. Now, it seems that even socks are optional and anyone wearing a tie must be asked "Gotta big job interview?"

I like the idea of a Tie Tuesday where people are encouraged to wear a tie to work, one day a week. I've got a bunch of expensive silk in my closet that needs to get out more.

Heh. I think the only tie Yoshi has is his thin, long black leather one from the 80's.

Oh, and say he can find a regular tie in his closet somewhere, he would have to wear his black suit to work for it to match.

At the gym, they always have at least one TV in the cardio room set on Jerry Springer. I've noticed, unfortunately for my eyeballs, that many of their guests wear shorts or jeans, and a tie. Just a tie. No shirt. Is this a new trend?

What, you like ties, are you nuts? I've worn a tie about 6 times in my life, and it was 6 times too many. I'm convinced it was invented by a woman as a tortue device to get back at men for all the uncomfortable women's clothes they've designed over the years. It serves no practical purpose, it's difficult to install, you constantly have to adjust it, it gets in your food and in your way, and it's uncomfortable and hot. I say we ban it.

I did the tie thing for 4-5 years in Manhattan in the early 90's. Never again.

Chuck and Eliot would approve.

Even one day a week in a tie is too much. Wearing one certainly doesn't make me more productive.

Donate those ties to charity Mike or let Michelle make a quilt out of them. :D
