In February 2004 Michele and I both got new mobile phones. The Nokia 3650s served us pretty well.
My phone started to die this summer and we ended up getting Michele a new Samsung SGH-D500 and I took over using her Nokia. Last weekend we were over at friend house and their two year-old dropped my phone in the toilet it seems. The Phone was soaking wet and after several days, it still refuses to function.
I'm in the market for a new phone and I call upon Loyal Cruft Readers for advice. What phone should I get?
Things I want in a phone:
Tri-band - good radio
Sound - good audio quality on calls
Bluetooth
Camera - 1+ Megapixel would be nice, flash would be cool
MMS & SMS messaging
Things that don't matter to me in a phone:
Email
Ringtones
PDA capability
Since you carry two phones, I say the more compact the better. To that point, nothing is slimmer than the RAZR. The rf performace is excellent, sound is clear and crisp, has bluetooth and the build quality is superb. Available in silver, black and pink! There are some more exotic options with higher quality cameras but you will pay through the nose for them.

iTunes capability.
It also does useless 10-second 3G motion captures.
can you get a temp until it's out?

Posted by: Titanas [http://www.pestaola.gr] on November 29, 2005 12:43 PMA great source of info from users of mobile phones is www.howardforums.com. Basically every phone that comes out and every service provider is brutally and honestly reviewed there. I bet if you post your question in the newbie forum you'll get good recommendations.

Whatever phone you choose, sign up for Cingular. Service is great and cost minimal. I get free roaming and lots of free minutes. Matt and I both have Cingular. Your Dad is looking into it too.
There are lots of free perks and all calls are free for family, no matter where we are, even when we are over our limit of minutes. At least that is what a nice young man at Cingular told me today.
