Dear Europe

Dear Europe,

I really am an enjoying my time here in Europe. I love Paris and Amsterdam, so much fun to be had.

There are two issues I really need you to focus on:

1) Lack of Air Conditioning - Look, I know it's an old part of the world, but that's no excuse for air conditioning to be missing. Restaurants should be air conditioned, especially Argentine steak houses. Convention centers should be air conditioned to avoid me passing out while doing business. Clubs hosting parties should be air conditioned to avoid people clustering at windows to gasp for cool fresh air. Can you give me an ETA on when I should plan to stop sweating everywhere I go?

2) Robbie Williams - Tonight I endured not one, not two, but THREE karaoke versions of Robbie Williams songs. As one of the three Americans in the room, we were the only ones that not only didn't know the words by heart, didn't even know who this guy was. Evidently he's a big singer from England, but honestly, his music is fairly amatuerish compared to that from other current Brit Bands. Please explain Robbie Williams and why he is beloved...

I see I'm not alone in my bewilderment over Robbie Williams.

Air Con, whats the rush? Its an america thing n e way. Not many places bother with it because we arent all over wait and sweaty.

Robbie WIlliams. The mans a legend, he was in Take That, "The First Boy Band". The first succesful one in the UK n e way. Hes the only performer i know of that can fill a 50,000 capacity open air concert with his Ego alone! The man is so over confident its amazing.

For years my Aussie and UK friends would go on and on about Robbie Williams, but I'd ignore them. Then one day on a whim I downloaded one of his albums from usenet and was instantly hooked. One nice thing about being in the States is you can just enjoy the music without having his celebrity status thrust in your face every 5 minutes.

Just be happy they didn't play/sing anything from the Rednex, Scatman or Scooter. I would take listening to a bad Robbie Williams tune any day over the former.

Air Con: Yes, but they have socialized medicine so at least when you collapse from heat exhaustion you will get your medical treatment for free!
