I found the film to be quite pedestrian. I never seemed to care about the main character. What motivates him? Why did he need the coffee? Where is the conflict, the character growth?

Well, Gene, I for one really liked his Keanu Reeves-esque underplaying of the protagonist role. Why do all home videos posted on the internet have to have a deep underlying message for you to appreciate them? He wanted coffee, he got coffee. The Taster's Choice is brilliantly symbolic of the main character's embrace of mediocrity. I give this one a thumb's up.

It's a lot of things, but it ain't coffee. No wonder you're constantly "giving up coffee". Might as well pour yourself a nice steaming cup of dishwater. :P :P :P

I think it's time for someone to up the bar and do a live demonstration of your "how to make a cup of tea" page and put all the boring coffee drinkers to shame. Hah.

Aarg ... Instant! Why bother?

Better to make one big pot of coffee a week and keep the rest in a air-tight pitcher in the frig for reheating. Even several days old, it tastes better than instant!

am i the only one who notices just how godawful tom green's blog is? It sucks so bad it hurts me.

Tom Green lives like a college kid. You'd think a guy who's that famous would have a bigger/better place. Maybe his 40 pets eat so much he can't afford anything better. Or maybe it's the Canadian taxes. Anyway his blog looks like his house a total dive.

Mike was totally mis-cast in the role of "boring instant coffee guy"... Was I supposed to believe his character? A successful, high-powered media executive who doesn't drink real coffee? Nobody's buying that. And was the audience supposed to feel invested in his quest to stir freeze-dried coffee crystals into hot water? Where was the conflict? And what was the point of that superfluous scene about getting newspapers? Surely that scene could have but cut and saved for the DVD... The story would have progresed much faster without that needless extra subplot.

Why does the character of Mike put his newspapers in the sink? Is that a metaphor for something?

Instant sucks.

Opportunity for comedy was missed when you DID NOT lock yourself out of the house. That's gold, baby!

Mike - at the very least go for the coffee bags. They might take a bit longer than instant but they taste a lot better and you just need to steep them like you would a tea bag.
